Import (replicate) Printer drivers from another server

Follow these steps to import printer drivers from another Windows 2008 R2 print server.

Procedure

  1. Open Print Management console from Start menu. In Print Management console, right click on "print management" > select "Add/Remove servers" > Add any existing Print server which has all printer drivers already installed
  2. In Print Management console, expand Print servers > right click on the Print server which you just added > select "export printers to a file"
  3. In Print Management console, expand Print servers > right click on local or destination Print server to which you want to replicate driver > select "import printers from a file". In import wizard, select the file which you created in above steps and in "select import options" wizard screen, select following options
    • Import method        : keep existing printers
    • List in the directory : Don't list any printers

What to check when Import fails

  1. Import details are logged in the eventlog. Check Application eventlog for details about import operation
  2. Check if Print$ share (\\destination-server\print$) exists on the destination server

“Internal Error 2869” while installing a XenApp 6 hotfix

 

When you try to install a Citrix XenApp 6 hotfix on UAC enabled Windows 2008 server, you may receive following error. This can be fixed by running the hotfix from an elevated command prompt (run as administrator mode).

Citrix Provisioning Services 5.1 SP2 released

Hotfixes in this Release (5.1 SP2):

  • Hotfix-8803/9015: OROM/BDM/Bootstrap fixes
  • Hotfix-9009: When assigning two vDisks to a target during boot, Target fails to load if vDisks have printers assigned to them.
  • Hotfix-9027: Changing network ports for the PVS server and using DNS name for BDM will fail as login server still defaults to 6910 on the client.
  • Hotfix-9110: Incorrect logging format prevents client side debug string to be logged into Stream log.
  • Hotfix-9111: While booting from the Dell OROM clients appear to be suffering from an intermittent PXE timeout that the server cannot recover from.
  • Hotfix-9112: Client hangs when using XenServer 5.0 and XenServer 5.5 and running a network intensive application.
  • Hotfix-9113: DELL OROM PRODUCT DHCP client doesn't respond to multiple DHCP Offer packet offers.
  • Hotfix-9115: Newly created vDisk(s) shows up as 1 gig in size on the target machine.
  • Hotfix-9116: Device table is not indexed correctly.

How to get XenApp cmdlets for Windows Powershell

XenApp Commands MSI is available for download in MyCitrix site under XenApp downloads category. You need to install DotNet 3.5 SP1 before installing XenApp Commands. After installing the XenApp Commands, open "Windows PowerShell with XenApp Commands (CTP2)" from Start menu -> programs -> Citrix -> XenApp Commands
